A critical overview of household slow sand filters for water treatment

Hello HWTS Network members,

I want to share a publication with you about household slow sand filters for water treatment. This paper provides a comprehensive review on the Household slow sand filters design, operational parameters/conditions (flow regime, filtration rate, maintenance, feeding volume, pause period), performance, removal effectiveness and field experience.

It is a good source of information for many key parameters, including turbidity, organic matter, nitrogen compounds, metals, emerging pollutants and microorganisms (bacteria, virus, protozoa, algae and cyanobacteria).
