Is water quality testing alone enough to ensure safe drinking water?

During the Network's last webinar “Water quality testing in action: Making your testing program work in the real world” there were some questions to our panelist Dr. Anna Murray that couldn't been answered because of time constraints. She answered them in written for us to share with all of you. ¡Thank you Anna!

Question: Is water quality testing alone enough to ensure safe drinking water?

Water quality testing is one tool to help someone understand overall water safety. It is necessary, but not sufficient alone for ensuring safe water. The results need to be interpreted correctly, communicated to the right people, and systems need to be in place to act on the results.
